I lived in Fairbanks for about four years. It was rough and I honestly hated it at times. The winters were brutal, but the summers were undeniably beautiful. While residing there, I took every opportunity to get out and explore. Everyone needs to get away and recharge in nature sometimes. These places are the perfect little get away.
1. Angel Rocks Trail
This 3.5 mile loop trail is perfect for anyone looking to experience views of the Chena River and unique rock formations.
The hike begins with a moderate hike through the forests and peaks of the river. You will find various overlooks perfect for pictures such as the one below. This is one of my favorite hikes in Fairbanks because of the fun rock formations at the top of the trail.

2. Granite Tors Loop Trail
Granite Tors Loop Trail is a 14.1-mile trail near Fairbanks, AK. The trailhead is actually not far from Angel Rocks. It's estimated to take 7 hours and 30 minutes to complete the trail. Many people plan to do the trail in two days, but it can be possible in one day. Like the Angel Rocks Trail, there are impressive rock formations for you to climb.
There is also a Granite Tors campground and day-use area right across from the trail. This area also includes places to explore, and there are picnic tables. Whether you take the trail or just visit the campground areas, there are plenty of things to do at Granite Tors.

3. Moose Creek Bluff Trail
The trail is one of my favorites, mostly because it is so close to where I lived but also because there are usually not a lot of people there. It's located in North Pole, about 15 minutes from Fairbanks. It's the perfect little hike to bring your dogs or even kids. The hill is covered in graffiti, so it's hard to miss.

4. Creamer's Field
Take a relaxing walk or an adventurous hike along the boardwalks at Creamer's Field. The boardwalk is somewhat broken down in some areas, but there are a few different paths you can take here. This is an ideal place for birdwatchers, with a number of places to sit and overlook the birds.

Discover the Natural Heart of Fairbanks
Fairbanks is home to numerous remarkable hiking destinations that deserve to be explored. From the scenic beauty of Angel Rocks to the peaceful paths in Creamer's Field, these trails provide not only a serene retreat from the city but also opportunities for photography.
Whether you are hiking alone, with friends, or alongside family, these trails invite everyone to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty Alaska has to offer. So lace up your boots (or slip on your Xtratufs) and get out there!
